I assume you posted code in the comment that WordPress deleted.

You’d normally add a meta tag in the head of a page, so that would be adding the code to the header.php file.

If it’s a temporary, “add this to a site to prove you own it” you could probably get away with adding it to a text widget, have the site verified and delete the widget afterwards.
