Comment posted to WordPress SEO Theme Talian 5 with AdSense/Clickbank Ads by WordPress SEO Theme Author.
The WordPress All in One SEO Plugin is not needed with this theme, there’s nothing important in the plugin not already included by default.
If you do use the All in One SEO Plugin you’ll need to delete the default themes Meta Keywords and Meta Description tags in the header.php file otherwise you get two sets (won’t break anything, just a waste of bandwidth).
The WordPress SEO Plugins list is soon to be updated, completely rewritten as some of the plugins I recommend are no longer supported by their original authors.
Found a really good replacement for the Alinks plugin for example called SEO Smart Links from https://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins/seo-smart-links (found a bug in the plugin, but it’s not major). Take a look at the pages with comments at https://www.seo-gold.com/ and https://www.seo-consultant-services.co.uk/ you’ll find the SEO Smart Links plugin can replace keywords within comments to your pages (the Alinks plugin only added links to posts and pages).
If any of you want a quick heads up of which plugins I’ll probably be recommending, (not 100% set on the list yet) here’s a quick list:
https://www.wesg.ca/2008/08/wordpress-widget-most-popular/ (I’ve had to edit the plugin code to make it work with this theme though as the widget it creates doesn’t use the themes formatting). The replaces the Popular Posts plugin that is no longer updated and doesn’t always work.
https://redmine.sproutventure.com/projects/show/search-everything : a WordPress search will find the words in comments etc… A feature that really should be core WordPress.
https://ducedo.com/remove-links-in-comments/ this is pretty good SEO wise, (a must have now) it turns links in comments to just text (as you can see with the links in this comment). This is very important now as WordPress by default converts the links above into text links with a rel=nofollow tag that DESTROYS link benefit (stupid Google).
https://www.nkuttler.de/wordpress/nkmovecomments/ Useful for moving your comments around and putting them in the right threads.
https://lesterchan.net/portfolio/programming/php/#wp-pagenavi I’ve edited version 04 of Talian to work with the original authors plugin code, so no need to use my version anymore, which though sill works fine is not up to date.
https://lesterchan.net/portfolio/programming/php/#wp-sticky Useful if you want to sticky important blog posts so they are always at the top of a category page etc… I use it on https://www.general-election-2010.co.uk/ the election poll is sticky so it’s always at the top of the home page.
https://tweetmeme.com/about/plugins Allows you to post to Twitter with a single button click, not sure why but the Tweetme button doesn’t show on blog posts and pages with my Talian theme. I have a fix which I need to include in an update. The fix is add <?php echo tm_generate_button();?> to the page.php and single.php just above the code <?php the_content() ;?>
https://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins/smart-youtube makes adding YouTube videos much easier to add to your own posts and gives your users the ability to add videos to comments. Requires teaching your visitors how to use the plugin, as I did here https://www.general-election-2010.co.uk/add-youtube-video-comments but it can work, see https://www.general-election-2010.co.uk/political-videos.html for it in action.
Still using my versions of SEO Post-Teaser and SEO Related Posts, have not found better alternatives and I’ve not had any problems with them.
I might not include all this in the SEO Plugins page since they aren’t all related to SEO, they are plugins I currently use on multiple sites.
